Young Chamber - Developing minds for developing business

For Parents

The whole educational landscape of qualifications and achievement is changing as never before. Following the Tomlinson report of 2002, the government has been re-evaluating the learning experience and opportunities of 14-19 year olds. New statutory obligations have been laid before schools to promote work-related learning, vocationalism and enterprise. This is not an add-on but is to be embedded in the curriculum by senior managers.

By 2013 there will be 14 new specialised diplomas across a wide spread of disciplines – the first five are being introduced in 2008. These range from Creative and Media through to Manufacturing, Engineering, Retail and many other skills. These diplomas have levels of attainment equivalent to GCSE’s and A Levels and include the core generic skills of which work experience is an essential component. Delivery of these will require collaboration between schools and businesses as never before.

Young Chamber deals with this in an effective and exciting new way.

Encouraging your child to take part in Young Chamber is a positive step in their development and future life-chances.
