Young Chamber

The Olympics came early to Tenbury

Dated: 18/01/2010

As part of the school’s Young Chamber programme, Tenbury High School hosted an enterprise day for Year 9 students, with the brief to 'Bid to host the Olympics’.

Each team of students was allocated at random a country and sport and were tasked to create, market and illustrate their bid to host the Olympics.

After researching the country and sport, students worked on areas such as kit and textile design, stadium design, logo and graphics, physical activity and nutrition. The teams were supported by industry experts from diverse areas such as Sports Nutrition, Medal Design, Branding & Graphics, Resistant Materials, Art, ICT, Textiles and Logistics.

The winning team produced a professional and effective bid to host the Greek wrestling team and covered all areas of the bid in the most unified, appropriate and in depth manner.

In the run up to the London Olympic Games in 2012, schools across the two counties are being encouraged to hold events and run projects to capture the enthusiasm the games create and promote the Olympic and Paralympic values of Friendship, Courage, Determination, Excellence, Equality, Respect and Inspiration.
