As another academic year draws to a close, Neville Reyner CBE DL, Chairman of Young Chamber UK
President of British Chambers of Commerce looks back at a year which has seen further growth of the Young Chamber network.
"During the last school year we have all seen change, 'austerity’, 'funding cuts’ and 'deficit reduction’ are phrases that have come to the fore, along with a new political landscape emerging to take on these undoubted challenges".
"One thing is for certain however, as the country looks to generate economic growth, the aspirations of young people, as never before, are the driving force to economic development and social awareness that will bring society together for the benefit of the whole country".
"As a result of the work of Young Chamber activity, over 7,000 businesses from across the country have contributed 24,000 hours of employee time to work with over 250 high schools, giving 220,000 young people a meaningful understanding of the workplace and what enterprise and entrepreneurship actually is and looks like. I would further point out that this initiative has grown and become established across the country in only 3 years".
"So, although there is a lot of uncertainty as we move in to the summer break, I am positive the countries future is in good hands. Can I wish everyone a good break and I look forward to the continued development of Young Chamber. "
