I would like to say a big thank you to the Chamber teams across the country who have assisted in the development of Young Chamber over the past year. During this period we have worked with over 9000 young people involved in directing and setting up Young Chamber Activity; we have had over 120,000 young people in schools taking part in that activity and we have worked with and received support from over 5500 businesses contributing over 22,000 hours of their time; well done to you all.
The Young Chamber concept provides a uniform structure of business and enterprise understanding right across the country assisting and helping to prepare our Young People for work and employment. It also assists our colleagues in education deliver the enterprise agenda in the school environment and it provides our local business communities with the young people entering work for the first time with the right mind sets and attitudes to employment.
I think that we have the beginnings of something very special in this country that has at the centre of it the future of business, our young people. Young Chamber provides the coordinated support engaging schools and business by working together to assist young people to prepare for life and to follow their dreams and aspirations in a realistic structured way. Young Chamber is good for business; good for schools and great for young people.
I am very much looking forward to working with you all in the coming year to make what we have achieved this year an even greater success next year.
