Young Chamber supports Enterprise Week 2007 With activity across the UK
Over 40 Young Chambers across the UK are supporting Enterprise Week (12-18 November) with a wide range of exciting activities aimed at connecting students with local businesses, enhancing relevant work skills and enabling them to learn how their ideas can be used to benefit their local communities and others.

Activities being held by Young Chambers around the UK during Enterprise Week are listed below. Please check with the school for more update information.

London

Gumley House Convent School Skinner’s Company’s School for Girls Finchley Catholic High School Warlingham School

Monday 12th: Taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge. Wednesday 14th: Women’s Enterprise Day. Female students from all schools and Children’s Minister, Beverley Hughes, will attend event and hear from 4/5 inspirational women speakers. Speed networking event (Warlingham).

South West

Cullompton Community College :	Launch of Young Chamber Council Mini Enterprise Scheme, Social enterprise events to raise money for identified charities.
Patchway Community College :	Business Skills Week. Working with local business concentrating on a different business skill each day.

South East

Dover Grammar School for Boys	Launch Christmas fayre social enterprise project. Profits to support Ethiopia fund.
Invicta Girls Grammar School	14 November : World of Work Day. 180 x Y10 students to visit local businesses.
Maplesdone Noakes School	Young Chamber Board launch Enterprise Fund.
Oakmeeds Community College	Mid Sussex Board Room Challenge. Competition against partner secondary schools.
St. Bartholomews School	Taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge.
The Westgate School	Fair Trade initiative activities
Walton High	Business lunch to launch Young Chamber. Tour of MK Dons and challenge by entrepreneur to design new football kit for MK Dons

Isle of Wight

' 3 part event; Business Breakfast; students talk enterprise and world of work with business leaders, Speed Networking; quick fire conversation between students and business community, Inspirational speakers; Jake Meyer and Jellyellie discuss importance of persevering, setting and achieving goals.

Aylsham High School	Taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge.
Chafford Hundred Campus	Children in Need Fayre. Students run own stalls for charity.
Linton Village College	Inter school business challenge.
The Leventhorpe School	Young Chamber talent event 'Amp in Sawbo' involving performance of young bands.
The Priory School	Launch Young Chamber Investment Scheme – give loans/grants to students for business ideas following Dragons Den format for interviews.
Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and Linton Village College	Business Competition on Wednesday November 14 as part of Enterprise Week, the competition is being judged by members of the chamber and will give best practices in the business world.

West Midlands

Baxter School	Young Chamber event.
Fair Oak BEC	Launch Business Start Up initiative.
Holyhead School	Children in Need activities.
Campion School	Five days of activities involving taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge, women in enterprise , social enterprise and networking (milkround).
Sandown BEC	School + 3 primary classes involved in national and local competions including mini golf, social enterprise activities, mini enterprise businesses set up.
Trinity High School	'How to make the School Greener' activity.

 

North East

Burnside BEC	12th : Mini Enterprise Activity – competition involving students creating marketing campaign for partner business. 14th : Business Ambassador Workshop Carousel - seminars and workshops to give students insight into sector specific future opportunities.
All Saints College	13th : Enterprise Day planned and run by Young Chamber students involving master class training in variety of skills needed to deliver specific enterprise activity.

East Midlands

Casterton BEC	Leadership training with The City of Leicester College. Launch of Venture Capital within CBEC.
The City of Leciester College	Launch of funded Social Enterprise projects, Most enterprising lesson competition, Workshops with local business representatives.
Caroline Chisholm School	Business Dynamics Event.
New Mills School	Recruitment & Selection Day – mock interviews competition with local businesses.

Yorks & Humber

Batley BEC	12th : Taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge.
Brighouse High School	12th : Taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge.
Serlby Park	Host Business Challenge.

North West

Bedford High	16th : Children in Need. Create stalls for mini fayre – busines competition.
Birchwood Community School	12th : Taking part in national ‘make your mark’ challenge. Young Apprentice Challenge – local businesses set challenge to Young Chamber students.
Kirkbie Kendal School	Launch Young Chamber. Dragons Den Activity for Mini Enterprises.
